This very special urn was created by Sophie Gamand — a world-renown artist based in California who is probably best known for her amazing “Pit Bull Flower Power” photography. Sophie also makes incredible ceramic works of art, including a limited number of Sacred Dog urns. We’ve never seen anything like them, and we are so pleased that Sophie has allowed us to make them available to Radiant Heart clients.

An “x” on the back serves as a key between the lid and base.
Height: 8.5″ Width: 5″ Base Capacity: 32 ci. However, there is also room in the lid. Total capacity is about 45 ci.
Appropriate for pets up to 45 lbs. (flame cremation), 37 lbs. (water cremation) or as a keepsake urn for a larger pet.

Additional Notes: This particular urn is a hand-made, coil-built urn. As she was building it, Sophie let her hands be guided by the profound knowledge which has been transmitted to us by dogs: we are all interconnected. Sophie, who is an animal chaplain, offers this note: “It was built slowly and with intention, infused with blessings to honor the sacredness of our interconnection with dogs and the world around us.” Once built, this urn was air-dried slowly and carefully to ensure it will not break. Then it was fired for a first time (a multi-day process), cooled, glazed with a chun (light blue-green) glaze, and fired again in a Cone 10 kiln for several more days.
